Game freezes when trying to play with favorites

i tried choosing a character on the favorites tab, but when i try entering a race or battle it just freezes and i have to force quit. the log says nothing out of the ordinary, there are some warn messages that appear even when not playing with favorites.

i play on the debian distribution of linux, but the issue is present on windows too.

its also possible that it freezes because i changed some of the config files, but i didnt do that in the new version, only the 1.4 ones. (i also havent changed anything on the windows computer)

i wish this gets fixed, i thought we can finally choose who we play against
