... would be good to have some collection of resources for good design.

A first google search mostly yielded corporate analytics stuff (sales, mostly), which is a bit off.

I vaguely remember that there was a blog post / paper on the "grammar of dashboards", riffing off of ggplot2, but couldn't find it.
