Comparison to Jujutsu

jj is great. I use it. It's goals are broader than StGit (i.e. to be a complete version control system) and it has a lot of momentum behind it. I think jj is a viable git replacement for many/most typical workflows. I would recommend jj to most people. I.e. I think jj is much better than git for working with a git repo.

StGit has existed since the dawn of Git (2005, 20 years!!) and has a feature set focused on maintaining a stack of patches. It's good at that. It is stable. I also think that StGit provides a better way to work with a git repo than git. For people that are invested in the stack of patches paradigm, it remains a great tool. If you need to maintain patches against an upstream project and/or use an email-based workflow (i.e. Linux kernel development), then StGit may be more specifically helpful versus jj.
