At the moment Neuron/Emanote either use completely randomized IDs or title IDs, the original Zettelkasten however uses content-dependent semi-structured IDs:
7-2m
(visualized). Observe how the Zettel form a "Zettelstrang" (=Zettel thread = note thread). Also note how most Zettel only have one or two connections/links.A good example/explanation is given here and here -- see how the Folgezettel hierarchy and the IDs correlate? E: See also here. For Emanote this would mean to generate IDs based on the current note context (i.e. what is the current ID, what is the next sequential and unique ID):
I like to repeat this over and over, but Zettel should be meaningful. In my opinion this extends to their IDs as well -- I should be able to picture a thread of thought from a bunch of IDs. That is also why -imo- random uIDs are bad "hygiene" for a ZK.
Some more examples of structured notes/IDs and their application:
12.03 Payroll schedule 2018
: johnny.decimal. Here someone gives their workflow.lang.python.data.boolean
: Dendron Hierarchies: 1 2How are structured IDs different from using titles as IDs?
A note with the ID
200.32 aunt jena birthday
orpeople.aunt-jena.birthday.90
or17,3bb7
might have the titleAunt Jena's 90th birthday
. The title is purely human-readable, whereas the IDs provide specific structural information.Possibly relevant discussions:
