Creating a private copy of the snakemake workflow catalog

Hi @johanneskoester. Do you know if it's possible to create a private version of the workflow catalog? Out team has a bunch of internal snakemake repositories and this would be useful to us.

I'm not sure if anyone has ever asked/done this before, and if not, I would appreciate any tips 😄

Dear Robert, yes this is absolutely possible.
The catalog code itself is 100% MIT licensed and can also be set up locally. In fact this is what I do when implementing and testing new features.

What you would need to do is to clone the github repo and follow the steps described on the README page. Just adapt the scripts which crawl through github to retrieve workflow data to your needs, such that you add repo data from a local source. All data for building the catalog is contained in the data.json 'database'.

If you use pixi for software management (the catalog project does), look at the pixi tasks in pixi.toml which a) generate the catalog, and b) render the catalog as a web page. The web page will be served automatically if you use sphinx-autobuild. How to deploy the page on a server is up to you, this is done via Github Actions.

Thank you for the info! I meant to respond, but had other priorities come up. I will give this a try eventually and report back :)
