This could make sense as an enhancement to the Outline sidebar. Many gemtext pages don't use a huge section/subsection hierarchy, so the outline is usually pretty empty. Maybe it would make sense to expand it to cover the directory hierarchy of the capsule as well, including directories recently visited. I don't see this as having a very high priority, but it could improve navigation in some cases and improve the utility of the Outline sidebar. |
Just had this idea I'd like to share here. I've been using browsers with a proxy between the browser and the remote server for quite some time now and have been making quite some usage of the "sitemap" feature my browser provides to me.
-> Have a sidebar panel that allows viewing the sitemap of the visited page. An enhanced history.
Say I visit links
/ananas
,/ananas/grapefruit
,/ananas/grapefruit/info
,/banana
,/banana/rabbit
. I'd love the sidebar to contain this information and provide an enhanced history view that, as with the table of contents view, displays the visited sitemap as follows:This would allow navigating the previously visited site more easily (of course only for some pages, some pages have a really flat hierarchy which wouldn't make much sense here).
