Same here. I started from a fresh image on my SD card and tried to install on a raspi 2B.
I also tried to install via the link https://github.com/ingenuitas/SimpleCV/zipball/master as described here.

The installation completes without error, but when running the command simplecv in the terminal, I get another error described in this issue

So after installing IPython 4 as was proposed in that issue, it worked. Perhaps you could try that?

I have had the same issue AttributeError: 'InteractiveShellEmbed' object has no attribute 'define_magic', and pip install 'IPython==4' --force-reinstall worked for me.
