prepare is not a function #2465

am using mysql2(3.9.2) and am getting the error

 const DatabaseCon = databaseInstance.createPool({ host: getAppEnv("DB_HOST"), user: getAppEnv("DB_USER"), database: getAppEnv("DB_NAME"), password: getAppEnv("DB_PASSWORD"), connectionLimit: 1000 });
       
  DatabaseCon.prepare(query);
 $result = await DatabaseCon.execute(query, ...values);

am getting the error

DatabaseCon.prepare is not a function
at queryDB (/Users/confidencewangoho/backend/node_revival/helpers/init.js:48:21)
