Description
What type of event change are you requesting
- Add new event
- Update event details
- Remove event
Checklist
- I have checked the spelling/grammar
- I have verified that the date of the event is correct
- I have verified all link references to ensure that they are not broken
I fail to understand how the following events warrant a featured highlight, so in my opinion either they are not as important or more details need to be added to reflect their importance:
- Can Stack Overflow and Meta's logos be changed temporarily to the “#LoveOverflows” logo?, given that it is a one-time event that is probably not even celebrated as much as the yearly Winter Bash. I guess it depends on where you're coming from.
- Stack Overflow launches Documentation, given that it is vaporware and is sunsetted only a mere two years later.
- Time to take a stand, given that it is just the CEO's rant and no impactful actions seem to have sprung out of it.
- Stack Exchange releases FAQ on pronouns, given that it is just a clarification to a part of the CoC? Unless it's sarcasm to show how frivolous things led to big consequences.
While the following events are, in my opinion, candidates to receiving featured highlights (sorry about not thinking this through earlier and including them in the new event JSON):
- We're switching to CommonMark, given that it is a network-wide rollout of a standardized implementation of one of Stack Overflow's founding tech stacks.
- Teresa Dietrich left Stack Overflow, given that she is a C-level executive, and according to bad_coder, hiring Teresa is the most impactful change of 2020, so her resignation is accordingly also impactful to Stack Overflow and its users.
- SE will host the data dump & impose new restrictions, given that it is legally ambiguous (but IANAL) and a breach of trust that is likely to cause another wave of strike and boycott.
I know whether these should/shouldn't be featured aren't as clear-cut as the case of a co-founder leaving his startup company, so I'm just putting it out here for consideration.
