When adding EmpireTech NVR16CH-16P-2AI, which is a Dahua NVR5216-16P-EI, only camera 1 shows up.

Or did I do something wrong?

Hello, i also needed time to understand.
After checking the code, i found out that this integration is supposed to show 1 camera per entry.

So what you need is to add a new entry with the same informations as the previous one, except for the channel.

channel 0 = channel 1 in the nvr

So if you have 4 camera you need to add 4 entry.
And for exemple: Camera 4 will be channel 3.

There will be 3 stream per camera : Main, sub and sub2.
The difference is just the quality of the image/video.

You did everything well, just need to repeat it as many camera you have :)

CrLLz has already answered your question about the integration of the various streams and channels. Nevertheless, one more note and information about using a Dahua NVR with the Dahua integration: At least with my Dahua NVR (DHI-NVR2108-I), the Dahua integration "spamms" its protocol every second with log-ons and log-offs as soon as it is integrated into HA via it. This is also one of the reasons why I no longer use the Dahua integration for the NVR, but have integrated it via HA Onvif integration instead. This means that the NVR protocol is no longer "spammed".

This means that if you have integrated your NVR into HA via the Dahua integration, you should then take a look at the NVR protocol. ;-)

@CrLLz
Thanks, this indeed works. 👍🏼

@JimGermany
Thanks and agree because cam streams is not HA's core strength in any way.
I am most interested in all the metadata such as motion detection. Got this working nicely for a standalone IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 but not for ANPR cams through the NVR. Soon multiple IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 cams will be tested through NVR.

For me, the integration of the NVR via Onvif integration is sufficient, as all detection types (motion, field, line) are available as sensors under HA. Only the AI features such as person and vehicle detection are missing.
Yes, an integration via Dahua API and the Dahua integration of rroller would probably be nicer/better, but as long as it doesn't work error-free and without problems for me, I won't continue to use it.

Where to find the logs of those 'spams'?

In the/your NVR protocol. Here is a screenshot without the integration via Dahua integration, but via HA Onvif integration

Image

As soon as I integrate the NVR via the Dahua integration, there are entries there every second. There are users logging in and out every second, which just doesn't happen with the HA Onvif integration and isn't normal either.

It is of course possible that the problem does not occur with other Dahua NVRs, but unfortunately it occurs with my DHI-NVR2108-I and has been doing so for some time now, even with older firmware versions.

The HA Core version used also does not matter, as the problem has existed for more than just a year.

DHI-NVR4116-8P-4KS2/L

Looks quite similar in my case with the Dahua Integration.

Every 15 minutes i have log-in & log-off from HA.
This is just to renew the subscription and event subscription to make sure HA continuously receive real time info

Well then it might be due to the combination of my Dahua NVR and the firmware version installed on it and the Dahua integration. Although I can't imagine that Dahua uses different APIs for the different NVR models. Moreover, these protocol entries every second don't happen if the NVR was integrated via HA Onvif integration.

If I integrate my Dahua cameras here (5 of them) not via the NVR but directly via Dahua integration, they don't get the protocol entries every second either. That only happens with the NVR if it is integrated via Dahua integration.

So that you can see that I am not posting nonsense here, :-) I have once again integrated the NVR via Dahua integration. The protocol then looks like this

and as you can easily see, the log is immediately flooded with messages.

However, I have to correct my statement. There are no logon and logoffs in the log, only logons from HA. But multiple times per second and continuously. I don't know why the Dahua Integration and/or HA continuously logs into the NVR.

I do see some HA login/logout entries here but nothing too crazy. Could indeed be NVR specific. Could also be that not much happens here because the integration does not pick up on metadata or the NVR does not provide it.
