Cannot install plugin in firefox on arm mac

I'm running firefox 139.0.4 on an arm64 macbook running macos 15.5. I've been unable to install zotero betterbitex. I've follwed the installation instructions: I donwloaded the XPI file (I've tried both version 7 and version 6), go to plugins under the add-ons and themes menus. When I try install add-on from file, firefox refuses saying that the file is corrupt. Any suggestions? Does the add-on not work on arm macs?
