The How-To for Managed Identity refers to how for VMs with Managed Identity setup the server installation auto-populates. There is also ARM template JSON for configuring this. There are no instructions for CLI or manual. This is to add the manual instructions (which are simply find the VM in Portal, click Identity menu, toggle to 'On', save changes); then start the Add Cloud Provider Account process again/refresh the page.
