Python 2 has reached it's end of life and is not longer maintained. Support should be removed and things converted to use pure python 3 constructs.

Is everyone ok with dropping RHEL 7 support?
Sorry, something went wrong.
I am not sure if we are ready to drop support for RHEL 7, but figured that we will want this on the backlog at some point.

Let's remove py27 support when RHEL 7 is EOL. From https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/errata#Life_Cycle_Dates , that's June 30, 2024. A mere 1113 days 🐢
