  • Include instructions on how to find the Makerspace room (was this sent out to the mailing list?)
  • something to do with summary of interests and things listed by people who filled out the form (http://py-cu.github.io/form_interest.html)?
  • include options to share (RSS/Facebook/Email/Twitter, etc) on every page
  • (note right now Twitter only appears on the index page)
  • explicitly mention RSS/Atom in the Contact-us box on main page and contact.html
  • embed Facebook feed?

More on the form:

The results: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=tXVY62QhFmuMqcTjes7GL_A#gid=0
Some of us can view that and some of us can't. Email me (Nadia) if you want access to it.

I think the form results are pretty interesting, actually. Here are some responses so far:
Question: What are you interested in learning that's Python related?

  • web site / data scraping and analysis introduction
  • Backend technologies (data mining, web frameworks like Django, etc)
  • "interfacing for scientific code
  • GUI (tkinter, Qt etc.)
  • functools
  • pickle
  • scientific, f2py
  • Web development with Python: specifically how to think about MVC (if applicable at all...), interfacing with a data store (preferably MySQL, but I'm open to others), other web-related stuff; also interested in applications for chemistry. I've enjoyed learning the nuts and bolts of Python, but I'd like to put it to use on the web.
  • Scientific research.
  • Nothing in particular, mainly interested in seeing what other people are doing with Python and engaging with other Python users/developers.
  • Django at the moment. Looking to learn NumPy/SciPy, GeoDjango, and get better at Unit testing in the future. Still stuck on 2.7, not quite ready to make the leap to 3.x
  • General Intro to Python

Question :What are you interested in learning that's not Python related?

  • other programming related topics
  • Improve my own coding style, working on projects outside of class, maybe getting involved in a startup.
  • coding practices
  • web development
  • CUDA, MPI. Computing in physics simulations. Quantitative finance.
  • MongoDB, Javascript/HTML5/CSS3.
  • Making a coding project
