Proposal
Birthday-buddy is a col application that ensures you do not forget that important event, recurring event, or birthday again. It is a great application and can still be improved.
Syncing- Birthday-buddy allows manual input of a birthday, annual event, one-time event manually. I propose that the application should be able to sync contacts from the user phonebook, email, and Facebook. This contacts synced will automatically be added to the application.
Sound select- You can choose to either enable or disable sounds for the birthday notification. One thing I noticed is that there is no option to choose your desired sound. I propose that users should have the ability to select their desired sound either from their music library or phone default ringtones.
MOCKUPS/EXAMPLES
The picture above shows how I want the Syncing to work. You can see that there is a sync button in the first picture followed by the add from email, contact, and Facebook. he next image shows how the contact will be like when auto generated.
The above image is how the Sound feature should behave. Users will be able to select their desired notification tone.
Benefits
Syncing- Manually entering a friend name and birthday is normal, but when you want to enter more than 20, 50 friends name, it is cumbersome especially when you already have it included in the user contact. Syncing contact from the phonebook will bring all your contacts and their birth date for those having. This will reduce the time and stress of manually inputting friends birthday information.
Syncing from Facebook also has its own benefits because you can easily get your Facebook friends birthday on your phone and be notified when their birthday comes up. The same applies to email syncing. It eliminates the stress and problem associated with entering information manually. You may wonder that since Facebook also provides birthday notification why Birthday-buddy syncing again?
The truth is Facebook notifications come late and you don’t want to wish the person a happy birthday late. It is also useful if you wish to get a gift for the person prior to the d-day. You will get the notification form Birthday-buddy.
Sound select- This is an important feature for the application. It will allow users to distinguish the sound fro other applications that may be using similar sound. This will ensure the notification is not missed. A unique sound for the notification will let the user know that it is different from other notifications such as sms, Whatsapp etc.
Conclusion
Birthday-buddy is a good application and I believe implementing this features will make it accomplish wider usage. The features proposed will greatly improve the application and see the user base increase astronomically.
