Why does defineProps<RouteParams<...>> fail with a Vue compiler error?

I'm trying to use typed route params as component props and I'm wondering what the recommended pattern is.

Right now I'm attempting the following, because I really like getting props via defineProps instead of using useRoute:

import type { RouteParams } from 'vue-router'

definePage({ props: true })

const { id } = defineProps<RouteParams<'app/user/[id]/'>>()
</script>

This gives a compiler error:

[@vue/compiler-sfc] Unsupported type when resolving index type

This seems weird to me because the following does work:

<script lang="ts" setup>
definePage({ props: true })
const { id } = defineProps<{ id: string }>()
</script>

I am not getting it, why am i not getting a typeerror but I am getting an error in my console?

unplugin-vue-router: 0.19.1
vue: 3.5.22
vue-router: 4.6.3
