Dedicated controls for individual degrees of freedom

When traveling on foot I often find it really difficult, to use any of the 3d features (or just rotation and zoom to some degree) with only one hand.
In those cases it would be invaluable to have the option to just tap a button, pick an anchor point on the map and simply swipe with one finger to pivot around it.
This would lead to three modes: translate, pivot, zoom/height. The assosiated switches would fit well in the location where the current zoom controls are.
This would IMHO help a great deal with the accessibility for people with reduced dexterity. It may also help some of the people that report having problems with accidental rotation.
