All ebuilds now use invalid EAPI5, which is very annoying

This overlay is outdated. Please use the official overlay from the trinity team. Link.

# emerge tdebase-meta
# emerge tde-i18n

Use a script to unmask packages.
The current recommendation to use the official overlay from the trinity team is stated in the README.md.

If you have previously used this overlay, then you will need to remove the $HOME/.qt directory, otherwise you will have problems finding to tqt documentation.
