We are working towards replicating the Tilezen schema as defined in https://github.com/tilezen/vector-datasource. More full fledged compatibility will be coming in tilesets v4, as well as archiving the original Tilezen project; in the long term we will develop beyond what was in Tilezen. @nvkelso is the main author and current maintainer of Tilezen, and is a co-maintainer of the basemaps components of this project. Shortbread is another open source alternative. Some differences:
There is no one map that is going to be the right fit for all projects. |

Hey folks, I started to look into the vector data to understand what exactly is in there and how we could style it.
The layers documentation at https://docs.protomaps.com/basemaps/layers is work in progress; I found protomaps/docs#1 there.
That's why I wanted to ask what the plans are in terms of vector tile data schema.
Are we trying to replicate the Tilezen vector tile schema?
In addition there is now also Shortbread
I was wondering what the long term plan is and if compatibility is something we should strive for in the vector tile schema for this project.
