Hey guys, I am trying to tap a previous version of borgbackup to include llfuse (which has been recently removed given FUSE for macOS is now proprietary).

I am getting the following error. Any ideas why?

Somehow adding depends_on osxfuse: :build appears to fix the issue. Trying to figure out why... I don't understand this syntax. See https://stackoverflow.com/questions/65079808/what-is-the-difference-between-depends-on-osxfuse-build-and-depends-on-pkg.

That declares a FUSE requirement, which you're trying to resurrect. Assuming you based your formula on Homebrew/homebrew-core@9d4fb76, the only thing you needed to do (besides change the formula name) was to delete the deprecate! and revision stanzas.

I would like to avoid maintaining the dependencies etc... and creating a potential conflict with the official borgbackup formula.

I am considering the following approach, but haven't figured out how to not have an URL. I found historical traces of meta formulas, but the idea didn't move forward.

Do you have ideas on how this can be achieved?

Maintaining your own partial formula is not supported. If you want to change the configuration you'll have to make it an entirely separate formula in your tap.

Same issue here. It wouldn't be a meta formula even, it's just a different version of borgbackup.

I don't use borgbackup, but if you can't figure out how to:

install only the files that don't exist in the Homebrew borgbackup
install them in a separate directory from the Homebrew borgbackup (i.e. no "appending" to the original install)
make it all work without being able to depend on a specific version of Homebrew borgbackup

I strongly urge you to bite the bullet and make your formula a replacement for borgbackup instead of an "addon".
