Add 'tracktype' rendering to improve hiking map readability #8086
Comments
Thanks, I installed the beta but can't see any differentiation based on tracktype. |
Have you tried with a difficult track using the outdoor styles? What tags are you expecting to take into account? |
Not sure what you mean by difficult track but yes I tried the outdoor styles. |
|
Problem
The map style renders every track the same, regardless of the tracktype value, which is crucial for hiking activities.
Isolines are okay, but a hillshade would be much better.
Solution
The tracktype value should be used to render tracks differently, similar to the Mapnik render.
Hillshade should be added with isolines.
Alternatives
I use Mapnik render on openstreetmap.org to see which tracks are the best.
