The validator warning for a disconnected highway should suggest adding a building entrance node when the way is a footway and either end is connected to a building area. Otherwise, the need for a building entrance node may not be obvious to the mapper, because entrances are usually another level of micromapping beyond footpaths.

I guess more broadly we could warn about a footway connecting to a building area and suggest adding a building entrance node in that case too, even if the other end connects to the footway network. We could also recommend noexit=yes in the case where a footpath goes right up to a building’s exterior wall but there’s no doorway.
