Right now a user might miss the effect of checking a second box below the first, because the effect isn't nearby, it's off the screen below.
Instead, we should use individual checkboxes interleaved with controls.
(The original UI mockup had it all in one line: I don't think it needs to be exactly that: Work with Shiny rather than against it.)
