Tracking issue for the MPI-5.0 standard ABI (Chapter 20) implementation, so the in-flight ABI work is a formal node in the MPI-5.0 conformance tree.

Implementing work

• PR Updated ABI generation code and new libraries #13280 — "Updated ABI generation code and new libraries": builds libmpi_abi alongside libmpi, generates the standard-ABI mpi.h and the OMPI↔ABI converter functions from the bindings infrastructure, and adds the MPI_Abi_* C (and partial Fortran) entry points. See ompi/mpi/README_ABI.md in that PR. Reviewers note the Fortran ABI path (mpifort_abi + full type registration) is incomplete even in the PR.

Scope and success criteria

The full per-requirement breakdown (18 reconciled requirements, all currently MISSING_INFLIGHT) and the detailed success criteria live in the parent chapter issue #14000. In short, this issue closes when PR #13280 and its Fortran-ABI follow-ons land and the standard-ABI surface — MPI_Abi_* query/registration functions, the 22 MPI_<Type>_toint/_fromint converters, MPI_ABI_VERSION/MPI_ABI_SUBVERSION/MPI_ERR_ABI, the 8-int C MPI_Status, and libmpi_abi/mpicc_abi/mpifort_abi — is present on main (MPI-5.0 §20.2–§20.5).
