  • side effect of generating the PDF with ABAP code: easy version compare, rollback, use existing transport routes/change management

  • plus if the ABAP system is running, it can generate PDF. No need for network connectivity or uptime/SLA of cloud services

  • no need for Java sidecar

  • probably fast, as it does not have to waste seconds on network traffic

  • safer than cloud(?), as data does not leave the system

upgrade stable? take an on-prem to Steampunk and vice versa, no problem it runs on the ABAP stack

potentially full pdf feature set

keep multiple versions, upgrade at will
