When working with long running requests with multiple senders and/or receivers the selection of the correct sender/receiver can be painful and error prone.
A use case
A request based on the German VIG might be sent to the "Ministerium für Justiz und Gesundheit" in Schleswig-Holstein. After a while a letter arrives from the authority that is responsible for the request (e.g. "Stadt Kiel - Bürger- und Ordnungsamt - Sachbereich Lebensmittelüberwachung"). At this point in time 2 external participants are part of the communication. Sometimes a third participant enters the stage (e.g. "Schleswig-Holsteinisches Verwaltungsgericht"): This is the case, when the requester is going to court.
For every new part of the communication the sender/receiver has to be searched for.
Solution
Display senders/receivers that are already used in a conversation as list entries if no search text is entered.
This would be a huge improvement in usability.
Searching for entries is even more difficult when the exact name differs from the list entry.
Example
The list entry is named
Stadt Kiel - Bürger- und Ordnungsamt - Sachbereich Lebensmittelüberwachung Schleswig-Holstein
but the official name (as stated in paperware) is
Landeshauptstadt Kiel - Ordnungsamt - Veterinärabteilung
Entering Landeshauptstadt Kiel Verterinär or Landeshauptstadt Kiel Lebens one does NOT find the list entry.
Entering Stadt Kiel Lebens or Kiel Lebens one DOES get the correct entry.
Finding the correct entry the first time is lot of guesswork. In fact, I only discovered the correct entry very late by chance.
