We would like to be able to feature sections of content in a highlighted box, ideally displayed as a headline or lede and an image, which when clicked by a user opens a LightRoom style popup or similar.

  1. Are you able to integrate this into the child theme, and if so, give us an estimate of when it will be available?
  2. What would you recommend as an interim solution in the meantime?

Can you give me an example of this highlighted box and the click behaviour?

Hi Miguel,

I don't have a functional example to hand. What I am looking for is a container that fits into a Briefing, displaying a headline and image -- this could be styled similarly to the current summaries for Briefings that appear on the home page. When clicked, this should open a popup containing content, with similar behaviour to how LightBox opens an image.

Ideally this would not require this content to be created on a new page, but be contained within the briefing.

Hi @DBishton,

Curiously I've developed a WordPress plugin called WP Feature Box that allows you to create embedable featured content boxes.

You think this might be close to what you are thinking?

Hi Miguel,

I think it could be. I had previously thought of a JS popup that 'floated'
above the page, but this might work if it was expandable/collapsible.

Collapsed: Showing a title, excerpt with option for an image

Expanded: Showing full content

Question 1: Are the dimensions of the Feature Box configurable?

Question 2: Is text inside a feature box still searchable as page text?

Best,
Dan

This collpase/expand feature is not available on this plugin.

The dimensions are responsive (even on external embed).

The text inside the feature box is not searchable as text, since it's displayed on the post through shortcode.

@DBishton that's an interesting idea. I've seen this presentation style in an Indonesian energy magazine pretty decently. Click on a story to see an example: http://energitoday.com/
I think its worth thinking more deeply about once the presentation is done. Also @miguelpeixe suggestion of the feature box is potential worth doing as part of the launch briefings. They are a really nice way to blend photo and graphic.
