Hover and Brush at the same time

A plotly-like interface that lets you hover on points but also click to brush the chart (in XYFrame) to zoom.

What I'm looking for is pretty much what highcharts is doing but without the client side zoom.
I'd like to get the start + end of the brush and do whatever I want with it such as quering new data from the server with the selected time range (if it's a time serie). The reason is that the data granularity (in a timeserie context) can vary based on the scale of the time range.
