[FEAT] Notifications and service calls while outside home network ?

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It seems like the computer needs to be on the home network for service calls and notifications to work, because the readme states it uses an HTTP server.
I am using it on a laptop and was hoping to be able to send notifications even while I'm outside

Notifications working while outside home (the mobile app can do this)

Describe alternatives you've considered
Having a VPN running to my HA and binding the ip of the server to the VPN IP, but it seems unnecessary.
