I have checked if others have suggested this already

  • I have checked this issue tracker to see if others have reported similar issues.

Feature description

👋

As title

Installing the beta was too disruptive for me so uninstalled it

Now I'm being nagged to install it again with (seemingly) no way to stop being nagged 😡 - why?:

Please fix this

Thank you

Alternative solutions

By all means enable beta-related nags by default for initial users/installs but once the opt out feature exists and is used then disable everything

Type of feature

  • Better privacy/anonymity
  • Better at circumventing censorship
  • Easier to use
  • Other

Operating System

  • Android
  • iOS
  • Windows
  • macOS
  • Linux

@ldexterldesign

Just turn off the corresponding option in the VPN settings.

Where exactly - I expect to see a setting but don't?

Right, so it seems I'm still using the beta because that feature doesn't exist for me

This explains a lot

Thanks

Please make it clearer if a user is running a beta install

This is not good enough:

FYR I think this is a mishap between brew installs and mullvad installs - will post back if I can make sense of it

Maybe another good reason to push for moving this "Beta program" out of the "Support" section:

#7295 (comment)

I have the impression this creates confusion among users.

UX for this obviously needs attention - it should be seamless 😒

brew uninstall mullvadvpn
brew install mullvadvpn

... and all good!

Still a bit confused but resolved

Hope this helps(?) 😵‍💫

Will leave this issue open in case there's a UX issue here with a beta install build/state - feel free to close if/when sanity checked..?

Ultimately, as title:

As a user I want it made more clear if I'm running a beta install

If the beta toggle on/off button existed in the beta build (like I suspect it doesn't, but I can rationalise why it doesn't) then would have been fully informed in seconds
