Hi there,

The last public release was back in Dec 2021. Will there be any future updates or has the project been abandoned?

You can add your own boxart by forking this repository and adding images. I believe the main developer of this is extremely busy with life and works on it as time permits, but I'm sure they would appreciate it if you contribute.

@aaaaafuck Sorry to be a bother, but I'm wondering if you could explain this to a newbie in simple terms?
I've just created a Github account pretty much just for this so my experience with any of this stuff is basically nothing. I've made a fork and uploaded an image into the correct folder - I'm using The King of Fighters 2000 (Japan) to test with.

What I don't understand is how I actually get that image to appear in OpenMenu? I'm assuming I need to create BOX.DAT and ICON.DAT files, but I really have no idea how to do so.

I'm sorry if this is obvious to most people on this site that know how that stuff works, but I'm a bit lost and would appreciate the help if you're able to spell it out for me!

It is no bother at all, I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my ability. MrNeo240 made OpenMenu and he compiled the original openmenu dat files. Originally the dats were completely closed source. A little while ago he made github repositories so that people could help upload the covers he missed. Sadly he hasn't used github anytime recently and hes been kind of MIA for a while as far as I know.

To have your cover appear in OpenMenu: he has to merge the fork that you have made to the main repository after you submit a pull request for your fork. Then he has to compile it himself because I don't believe he ever released a tool to do it yourself. Me and another few users have added a large amount of Japanese game covers already and have submitted pull requests. I think the game you have requested has already been done.

So as of right now we are waiting for MrNeo240 to merge the pull requests a few of us have done and compile the new dats. I hope that MrNeo240 is safe and all is well for him. I also that he is eventually able to get back to work on this he is a very important person within the Dreamcast community and a lot of people use his work.

If you have any other questions let me know I'd be happy to help if I am able.

@aaaaafuck that all makes sense, thanks for taking the time to respond. Fingers crossed we see some new developments eventually. But yeah I also wish MrNeo240 the best and I understand these projects can be a lot of work to take on. With or without the few missing pieces of cover art, OpenMenu has been fantastic!
In the meantime I'll have a look at all of the forks and see if there's any games I have that might be missing art still.

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!

Not abandoned. Just busy but I have a computer again.

This repo should help save time. If you do everything properly and make a pr it should build, merge then release.
