SGB: in-game hook reset can cause save corruption #239

Using the in-game hook reset in the Pokemon Gold start menu where it shows the current time can occasionally cause save corruption. When the corruption happens the game freezes without a successful reset. Resetting a second time is successful, but the save data is corrupted and saves are gone on next boot. It's not clear what causes this. Possibly related to:

  • using in-game reset
  • save states using overlapping X+R button combination
  • SGB to SNES transfers going on in the background

It's difficult to hit as most times the reset works. Creating an issue to document since it's a particularly bad bug. I'll have to figure out the cause and fix it.
