Hello @p-ortega, we had previously worked on the concept of a flopy "plugin" that would work similarly to what you are proposing here, but we haven't pursued that any further due to some larger flopy refactoring efforts. As you know, flopy is capable of creating any MODFLOW 6-like input file provided you can create a definition file to describe its structure. I think this is something that we would want to look at again once we are further along in the ongoing flopy refactoring work. |

Thank you, @langevin-usgs, for your response! I reckon I'll be keeping my dodgy fork for now, but I’m looking forward to seeing what might come in the future. |

Hi FloPy team,
I wonder if there are any plans to provide support for models/packages developed through the MODFLOW API.
For example, we have this project: https://github.com/p-ortega/mf6rtm, which uses PHREEQCRM and the MODFLOW API. We'd like to generate input files for both MODFLOW 6 and reactions using FloPy. I have a fork of FloPy where I created fake DFNs files for PHREEQC keywords, resulting in mf6-like internal and external files. Then, we are internally processing those in the code. However, I'd like to check with you if there is any plans around the API, before proceeding further to avoid maintaining an unnecessary fork.
Cheers,
P
