tag label syntax?

I want to use a tag called "keywords" and tried entering "one,two,three four" and so on. Didn't let me "save" it.

I couldn't find documentation on which characters are allowed.
Where could I find it, and is it possible to change that? (theoretically allow all unicode characters, arbitrary string-size)

You cannot. Its an S3 API limit, ASCII characters only for tags.

Being aware of the consequences:
Could I technically (for an in-house prototype) ignore-and-break the S3 API compatibility and change Minio's code (or API libs) to change that?
In what files/libs (approximately) would these limitations be set?

you can do what you want, but SDKs may not work properly.

There it says:

"A tag key can be up to 128 Unicode characters in length, and tag values can be up to 256 Unicode characters in length. Amazon S3 object tags are internally represented in UTF-16."

I still don't get it, why Amazon nailed it down to mere ten (10) tags 😭
However: Not being able to use characters like ";" or "," seems surprising to me.

If anyone could please point me at any information where these limitations (in code) are located- or why they exist in the 1st place, I'd be very grateful. 🍰
