How do I change an agent's response before it is added to the chat?

I want to change the agent's response AFTER the LLM has finished generation, but BEFORE the response is added to the chat / groupchat (and the next agent speaks). The flow would look something like this:

1. LLM generates response
2. My logic modifies this response
3. The modified response is added to the messages and the chat continues

I thought about using register_reply() but that could only run before the LLM generates the response because generate_oai_reply() is in itself a reply function. I could always simply clone generate_oai_reply() from the source code, inject my logic before the return, and register that as a reply function, but is there a better way to do the same?

This can be done by hooking the ConversableAgent.process_message_before_send message. See test_conversable_agent.py and webarena_agents.py.
