State of NSClient++ on Linux

Hey @mickem,

I really love NSClient++ and we are using it for hundreds of Windows machines already.
As we are currently restructuring our Linux infrastructure, I looked for NSClient on Linux as I remembered reading that it is supported when I set up our main Icinga2 instance a while back. This left me more confused than before.
I could not find anything easily that reflects the current state of Linux support. As far as I can tell 6.0.0 and higher don't even have Linux releases anymore.
If I missed something and Linux releases moved to some other platform, I will be more than happy to be told so.

So @mickem, could you provide a definitive answer about Linux support?
Will Linux be supported going forward?
If so, where can I find packages?

There are plans about that for sure (and possible you can still build it).

I "removed it for 0.6.0 so I could focus on getting the windows build to build.
So getting back Linux support will absolutely happen and if it is something you're interested in, I will start looking at that. It is likely not hard as nothing has changed fundamentally.

Linux support would be amazing as we are already using NSClient for our Windows infrastructure, and it would be great to use the same tool for our Linux systems as well.
The decision to support Linux in the future is obviously yours, but I would appreciate it if the documentation would reflect the actual status. Currently, it is not really apparent what the status is, or even how to go about installing the Linux version.

For testing purposes, I tried to install the last version that had a .deb package, but was unable to do so successfully.

I'll look into the docs, I havent updated them much and as you say there are numerous things (temporarily) disabled in 0.6.x so it makes sense to add information about status in the docs...
