I am currently using the Git functionality of npm to pull the latest version. It would be great if the developers were able to publish it to npm or Yarn. Until then, you may add the below line to your package.json:

"passport-custom": "github:mbell8903/passport-custom#1.2.0",

By the way, is this package dead or there is not much to update for the specific strategy?

I think it is abandonware. Better notify the Passport maintainer, so this is not listed anymore. Thankfully I am not responsible for the project which I used this package in.
