@mayn are you still trying to maintain this repo? I'm currently in the process of updating my fork of this project and I was looking to introduce the request here, along with reaching parity with packer 1.6.0.

@DrJZoidberg if people are using it, ill maintain it. got distracted / discouraged w/ 1.4.x/1.5.x changes. sorry 😞
probably better if i do a series of incremental updates. If you are interested in this feature and want to pr it, i'm open to review it.
