Option to not override entity icon

It may be the case that not all entities filtered in are of the same type or that the entity specific icon is preferred over a generic group one

Describe the solution you'd like
I was thinking of an option to not overrid the icon assigned in the entity configuration of HA. While still keeping the ability to change the color, gradient, etc

Additional context
For example I've use this to show me the garbage collection, sorted by date. If love to keep the custom icon per type of collection (e.g organic) while changing the color for which one is more upcoming
