- Bridging the Literacy Gap: We wanted to create an approachable entry point for young adults and newcomers to finance—without the usual jargon and fear.
- Social & Collaborative Learning: We were drawn to the idea of friends learning together, comparing portfolios, and cheering each other on.
- Micro-Investing Revolution: The ability to invest even $5—rather than $5,000—truly democratizes finance. We wanted to highlight that accessibility.
- It turns out, everyone loves leveling up, earning badges, and hitting streaks—even when it’s about stocks and ETFs!
- Striking the right balance between “educational content” and “fun gameplay” was a challenge. We discovered that short, interactive lessons keep users engaged far better than dense text.
- Integrating market data taught us about rate limits, caching strategies, and how to politely nudge the user when data is delayed.

GenAI Integration: A standout feature of InvestiVerse is our embedded Generative AI chatbot, designed to:
- Demystify Finance: Users can ask questions like “What is a dividend?” or “How do I diversify my portfolio?” and receive clear, digestible explanations—complete with HTML/Markdown formatting for a polished look.
- Encourage Engagement: The AI suggests relevant InvestiVerse lessons or quizzes to keep users immersed in their learning journey.
- Provide Personalized Insights: While it doesn’t give financial advice, the AI offers general guidance and highlights areas where users can improve their portfolios based on their learning progress.
- Time Constraints: We aimed to ship a full user journey—login, lessons, investing, social feed—within a tight hackathon schedule. We prioritized an MVP flow and left the polish for later.
- Balancing Complexity: We wanted new users to have powerful investing tools but not be overwhelmed. Deciding what to simplify (like fractional investing) was crucial to keep the experience seamless.
- Continuous Motivation: Designing streaks, daily quests, and rewards required testing to see which incentives best encouraged returning users.
We envision InvestiVerse becoming a complete ecosystem:
