Problem: Federated timeline can be too noisy #485
Comments
For those like who haven't heard of bubble timeline, it's a timeline made of toots from a specific set of instances, so creating a soft of bubble between a set of instances and the wider fediverse. https://akkoma.dev/AkkomaGang/akkoma/pulls/100/files is an example implementation. Again, putting this in the form of a problem statement, here's what I have: For a well-connected instance, the federated timeline is too noisy for users to discover accounts and topics of interest to them. |
The federated timeline can be too noisy and the local not enoguh to help users find topics of interest and participate in discussions around the instance's topic.
Proposed solution: Creating a bubble timeline where admins can add a group of instances with a common interest could be really useful for user and topic discoverability and networking. I am aware this feature is available on Akkoma but I am not sure this is portable to ecko.
