Equation in many lines

I tried some equations having many lines.
It usually gives the latex script in the form of array like this:

It is helpful enough to get the script, but can you find better way for such a multi-line eqaution, for example, using other environment like \begin{equation} \begin{aligned} ... \end{aligned} \end{equation}?
Also, it seems not working well for equations more than 4 lines... It usually omits one of the lines.

I found this problem too, when I tried to recognize the matrix. It returns the first line of the matrix, and the grammar is false.
Therefore I use it only for recognize one-line formula. And a editor at hand when encountering multi-line equations.
