I've discovered a new tool called dsbulk which also "unloads" (i.e. dumps) data. It's blisteringly fast (at least on my hardware in Belfast). I'll test it on cassandranode-0 and if it works as expected, I'll add it to my gkservercollection as a separate install. (It's just a matter of downloading some Java code, making sure a JRE is installed, updating the PATH to the dsbulk binary, and adding a CRON job to run it once a week. Depending on how fast it is, it might be useful to run it more frequently.)
