Take over error messages

In my plugin (papis.nvim), I sometimes change the database schema as I introduce new features. This then leads to this error being triggered. Users can solve this by re-initialising the db (for which my plugin has commands), but I would need to let users know of that. Can I somehow take over or change this message? It would be even more useful if the message could change depending on what table is causing the problem.
