PVC is getting deleted when downscaling sts

I have app running with PVC defined in the sts as volumeClaimTemplates.
EKS version 1.29
Keda version 2.16
Configured scaledObject and it is working fine except terminating the PVC as well during downscaling the sts.
Checked my sts configuration and we are using persistentVolumeClaimRetentionPolicy and set
whenDeleted:Retain
whenScaled:Retain
As far as I understand, featureflag StatefulSetAutoDeletePVC is enabled by default in v1.29.
Please help me with some pointers to fix the issue.
