I need to remove k3d from WSL2 such that I can re-install it from scratch. The installation is fouled up due to the integration between Docker Desktop (on Windows) and WSL2.

Simply deleting the executable doesn't do it. The installer still sees that the most recent version is installed.

Hi @sebastus , how did you install k3d then?
And what do you mean by "the installer"?
k3d is a single binary executable, not more, so there is not much to uninstall.
And installing k3d just means downloading the correct executable and dropping it into some place where you can execute it.

I installed k3d with wget. "the installer" means the wget command in your installation docs.

Doesn't installation download a container image and run it? Perhaps some configuration somewhere?

No, the install script also only downloads the binary.
There's really nothing else to it. All state that k3d holds is in Docker - and that's only if you have clusters running there.

So if the wget command says that there is the latest version installed, then you have that binary lying around.
You can locate it with which k3d.
The default install directory is /usr/local/bin.

That said, there is no reconfiguration that could happen by re-installing k3d.
k3d just interacts with your Docker installation.

ah - ok. I'm all set. Turns out I was confused which artifacts were created by "k3d cluster create mycluster" and those created by installation. Thanks for your clarity. Cheers!
