Cannot create cluster, error creating temp hosts file

Any insight into how this could happen? I am stumped. I can run 5.3.0 without any issue. Why would I receive the error open /tmp/k3d-config-tmp-cluster.yaml30803598: no such file or directory while trying to create a temporary file?

I am running this code

docker container run -v "/var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock" -v "${LOCAL_K3D_PATH}:${LOCAL_K3D_PATH}" ghcr.io/k3d-io/k3d:5.4.1 cluster create mycluster --config /workspace/infrastructure/local-k3d/build/cluster.yaml --api-port "${MY_HOST}:6550" --trace

The ${cluster_file} exists, I have a /tmp folder. I am not sure what else to check. What could be going wrong if it works in 5.3.0?

When I run that code, it actually prints that it successfully created the cluster, logs the error message, and fails later when my script tries to talk with the cluster.

UPDATE:

I created this simple example based off the code that is failing in config.go. It works with no problem.

The solution ended up being to fix volume mounts.

      -v "${K3D_DIR}":/root/.k3d \
      -v "${KUBE_DIR}":/root/.kube \

replaced with

      -v /tmp:/tmp \
      -v "${K3D_DIR}":/.k3d \
      -v "${KUBE_DIR}":/.kube \
