jupyter lab interface becomes laggy using the extension

It seems like the Jupyter-lab interface becomes laggy when installing jupyterlab-myst.

Description

The things I have noticed when using the extension (see Additional notes for environment)

1. long lag when using ESC + A to insert a new code cell and sometimes the new cell doesn't show up at all.
2. laggy response to scrolling (Scrolling is stucking on the page #250)
