audio-keyboard-response: end trial on response, but only after the audio is done playing

Hi everyone,

Someone mentioned in this thread that they had modified their audio-keyboard-response plugin "to restrict terminating the trial after the keypress (it waits for the stimuli to end)”, but didn’t post the code.

I need exactly this.

I want the participants to be able to respond before the audio is done playing, but without ending the audio.

• At the time when the stimulus is done playing, if the participant has already responded, the trial should end.
• If the participant responds later than this, the trial should end at that point.
• Finally, trial_duration should still be in play and end the trial after 5000 ms if there is no response.

I haven’t been able to make this work with any combination of settings with the already existing parameters for this plugin. Apologies if I’m just missing something basic — this feels like it should be fairly standard.

It contains the plugin files before and after the modification for your comparison. A demo is also included. Make sure to set response_allowed_while_playing, response_ends_trial, and trial_ends_after_audio to true in your code.
