I meticulously use genres to organize my music and many players support browsing by Genre, Album Artist, then Album. This is my preferred way to choose music, but Finamp goes straight from Genre to Albums. This results in less granular browsing and an overwhelming number of albums to sort through. Could this be an option so users cold have it which every way they prefer?

Hmm, Jellyfin itself handles it like this, which is why Finamp also behaves this way. I'm not sure if wr can even get the artists for a certain genre.
To be fair, not all artists produce consistent genres, so going on a per-albun or even per-track basis seems more correct to me.

But I understand your use case, I'm just not sure if it's easily implementable. Do you want the selected artist to have their albums filtered by the previously selected genre? Or is it just about quickly finding relevant artists?

Just tried it, the Jellyfin app has an option to filter artists by genres, which is means it should be doable.
In that case, might be able to consider your request in the redesign :)

Thanks for looking into it! It's the thing I miss most about Google Play Music. I do agree that artists can transcend genres, so a per-album basis makes most sense when browsing Genre-Album Artist-Album.

Could you explain what you mean by "browsing Genre-Album Artist-Album" please?
I was so far thinking of letting users choose if they want to see albums or artists within that genre, would that work?

Yeah, that's what I mean. Going to the Genre tab, choosing the artist or more specifically the album artist, then choosing the album from that artist associated with the genre.

Ah okay, so we are talking about two different things. But I just gave it a try, we can also filter albums by (album) artist and genre, so it seems doable, but becomes a bit harder to implement...

I second this feature request 🙂

An "aggregated" genre page that also shows artists for that genre will be amazing.

Maybe have various "sections" on the genre page: album artists, albums, songs ... with few items displayed for each and the ability to navigate further into all album artists for that genre, all albums, all songs etc.

One difference from what OP said is i would keep the full artist profile pulled up even when navigating to it from within a genre (that means all his stuff, including albums from other genres etc. - his complete profile)

Reaching 2 different type of artist profile across the app is confusing.
